Marco Nunes Correia

Scientific Illustration

Marco holds a degree in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon (1998), and earned the title of Specialist in Scientific Illustration (2013). He has been teaching scientific illustration and drawing since 2010 in various undergraduate and master’s programs and is currently a faculty member at ESAD.CR – Polytechnic Institute of Leiria. He has supervised around ten master’s students in the field of scientific illustration.

He is a member of the Design and Arts Research Laboratory (LIDA – Polytechnic Institute of Leiria) and a member of SPEA, having carried out bird monitoring and scientific ringing activities over a ten-year period.

He is a founding member of Grupo do Risco (2007) and has taken part in several field drawing expeditions in protected areas of Portugal, the Brazilian Amazon, and São Tomé and Príncipe. His current professional work focuses on communication design, scientific illustration, and teaching.
