Ceramics

“né” is a series of ceramics created by a Japanese ceramist Maasa Kakurai based in Portugal. Her inspiration comes from playing with different materials in everyday life. After studying Fashion design and pattern making in London, she moved to Australia, where she always had contact with the ocean and forest. Through this journey, she reconstructed her connection with nature, which is strongly rooted in Japanese culture. In 2017, she moved to Portugal as a patternmaker for a German/Portuguese fashion brand in Porto. During this time, she was influenced by traditional crafts and art. Later, she began her ceramic practice at a studio in Porto.
